As a part of the 3rd Year BHMS curriculum under the Competency-Based Dynamic Curriculum, NCH, guidelines, an educational visit to the Psychiatric Hospital and Mental Asylum was organized on June 30, 2026 and 2nd July 2026, by C. N. Kothari Homoeopathic Medical College and Research Center, Vyara.
The purpose of this field visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge of mental health and practical clinical realities. It aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of public mental health infrastructure, psychiatric disorders, and the role of holistic care—including homoeopathic perspectives—in mental healthcare management.
Objectives of the Visit
• To familiarize students with the administrative, clinical, and rehabilitative infrastructure of a dedicated mental health facility.
• To observe clinical manifestations of various psychiatric disorders, including acute psychosis, schizophrenia, mood disorders, and substance-induced conditions.
• To understand the multidisciplinary approach to mental health, including psychiatry, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, and occupational therapy.
• To study the implementation of the Mental Healthcare Act and institutional protocols regarding patient dignity, human rights, and legal procedures.
• To evaluate the scope of Homoeopathy in managing or supporting mental health conditions.
